Our Story
Zariyah was founded by Mahira, who noticed a significant gap in resources for the South Asian wedding community. As couples increasingly marry across state lines and move away from their hometowns, finding reliable, culturally-competent wedding vendors has become more challenging than ever.
Traditional word-of-mouth recommendations no longer work when your family and friends are spread across different cities. Couples were left searching through countless Instagram profiles, Facebook groups, and wedding forums, trying to piece together information about vendors they'd never met in cities they didn't know.
Mahira experienced this firsthand when planning her own wedding events. She needed a mehndi artist in a city where she had no connections, a photographer who understood the cultural significance of the baraat, and a decorator who could bring her vision of blending traditional and modern elements to life. The search was overwhelming and time-consuming.
That's when the idea for Zariyah was born. The name "Zariyah" comes from Arabic, meaning "pathway" - perfectly capturing our mission to support couples during their wedding journey.
